What is homoeopathy? Homoeopathy is a
system of medicine based on the principle that like cures like. For
example if a substance when ingested gives the symptoms of flu, then for
a sufferer of flu that substance would be helpful. Homeopathic remedies
are produced from very dilute material, so there are no dangers of side
effects.
-
What is progressive homoeopathy?
Progressive homeopathy is another name for antihomotoxological therapy,
a tried and tested form of homoeopathy developed in Germany since the
1930s. It was recognised that modern living can lead to an increasing
toxic load, which the body has more and more difficulty coping with. In
this state the individual becomes vulnerable to disease. The technique
detoxifies the system and treats the disease, allowing it to recover
using classical homoeopathy, complex remedies and herbal preparations.
Advice on diet and lifestyle is also given.

What happens during a consultation? A full
case history is taken, including childhood illnesses, accidents, present
state of health and medication being presently prescribed. Then
acupuncture points on the hands and feet are tested using the Voll
machine, imbalances on any given point are matched with possible
remedies. When the correct remedies are found, a course of those
remedies will be prescribed.
-
How long does a consultation take? A
consultation lasts between an hour and an hour and a half.
-
Do I need to bring anything to a consultation?
No, but it would be helpful if no creams or lotions were applied
beforehand, as these prevent the machine from working properly. It
would also be helpful if women patients wore socks rather than tights.
-
Is the testing painful? No, it is
painless.
-
How long will it take to sort my problem out?
The initial course of treatment is four weeks. A retest takes place
after six weeks. Further remedies may then be prescribed. Usually
three consultations will suffice. Some people may require fewer
consultations, some people may require more.
-
Can all problems be helped using this technique?
No, and sometimes it is more appropriate to see a doctor, or a
complementary practitioner such as an osteopath or chiropractor. Advice
will be given if this is appropriate.
-
Are there any side effects when taking the medicine?
No there are no side effects or interactions with other medication.
There may be short periods when you feel tired or under the weather.
This is when the body is getting rid of toxins in the system. In order
to minimise this, homeopathic preparations of herbal cleansers are also
prescribed.
-
How do I know that the medicines are safe?
These homeopathic preparations are manufactured by reputable
pharmaceutical companies such as Heel Gmbh in Germany. There is a large
and increasing body of scientific evidence to support the use of such
remedies.
